Identified in United Utilities Catchment Strategy to support the work carried out at the waste water treatment plants. Diffuse pollution is a much more widespread issue therefore community engagement will be an important part of the project. This project links into work undertaken by the Freshwater Pearl Mussel project.

WFD classifications and the prevalence of blue/green algae blooms provide evidence that this is an important issue to tackle.
