United Utilities and South Cumbria Rivers Trust are working in partnership to undertake catchment assessments of the catchments above Pennington and Poaka reservoirs. The catchments above the United Utilities extraction point at Ulpha and Levers Water in the Coniston catchment will also be covered. This will help inform the designation of these areas as Drinking Water Safeguard Zones in 2020.
