Part of the Heritage Lottery Funded (HLF) Conserving Coniston and Crake project. Restoring Rivers aims to improve spawning and juvenile fish numbers through the diversification of habitat along the River Crake and becks in the Coniston catchment. This will be achieved through coppicing and tree planting, installing fascines and large woody debris. This will help to stabilise erosion, encourage current turbulence, gravel sorting and riffle and pool sequences, whilst also providing bankside refuges for invertebrates, juvenile salmonids and fry.
