I’m 32 and shifting careers from hospitality to office-based roles, so I’m rewriting my CV from scratch. The problem is, most templates online look either too creative (lots of icons, colors) or too outdated. I want something fresh, but still suitable for more “serious” industries. Has anyone found templates that work well for people transitioning to a new field and need a balanced, modern look?

I dealt with the same situation when I switched from retail to project coordination. I needed something clean and modern, but not overly flashy. I ended up using a template from this site: https://moderncv.co.uk
What I liked is that their designs are minimalistic and focus on clarity, so they’re good for transitions where you want to highlight transferable skills. The layout helps guide attention to experience and strengths rather than visuals. It also made my CV look much more professional compared to generic free templates. Might work well for your situation too!

    Thanks for the recommendation!
